We are TV veterans who understand large-scale production and run operations at the pace of broadcast. Meet our leadership team.
Executive Producer/Creative Director
Mike hates to talk about himself. But he’s a great listener. So, he listened to his team and agreed to be on the website as long as they were too. Mike has spent 25 years capturing natural, compelling performances from regular folk and professional actors alike. His award-winning documentary Bonecrusher, about father-and-son coal miners, is used as a teaching tool in over 300 universities.
Director of Production/Head of East Coast Operations
Jon is usually found unraveling tricky issues, coaching someone, or asking how we can make things even more efficient for our clients. He loves juggling schedules, crews, studios and budgets. Before joining Writebrain, Jon was a go-to location scout and manager of features films in the DC area for over 20 years.
Producer/Head of West Coast Operations
Nick can do the work of 3 producers. So, in 2014, we convinced him to come work for Writebrain. Nick’s mom threw in some baklava to seal the deal. Nick oversees production in California. If you’re lucky, Nick will take you to the best ramen places in LA and Tokyo.
Lead Director of Photography
Jeff has worked in 27 countries and all 50 states. Eventually the lure of digital education brought him to us. He’s a National Emmy Award nominee and bronze medalist in the New York International Film Festival. But that’s selling him short. He’s a master.
When all the parts of a shoot fit together it’s because Erin is pulling the strings behind the scenes. She used to work for Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot, but then figured why work on one project at a time when you could be working on 30-60? It’s a good thing for us because Erin manages a constantly changing schedule for every shoot filmed in our East Coast studios.
Mackenzie holds this whole ball of wax together. She’s a project pro who handles day-to-day studio operations, books crew, and ensures a smooth handoff from production to post-production.
Director of Post-production
Bobby manages an ever-expanding team of editors, assistant editors, and media managers. After earning his post-production chops with MTV, TLC, Comedy Central, and National Geographic, he realized that nothing gave him satisfaction like delivering thousands of videos on time. That’s the official story. Unofficially, Bobby DJs pop-up parties after hours.
Every company needs someone who makes everything work together. Brenton is our guy for that. He loves to create things that make life run smoothly. Writebrain’s media management system is one of them. After cutting his teeth at Discovery Networks and the History Channel, Brenton built awesome stuff for brands such as ESPN, Dove, Sprint, Google, and Target, before joining Writebrain.
By the time Krissy joined us she was already a full-blown video pro with 10+ years of experience in documentary, studio, and live TV productions. She has that winning combination of video skills and love of process that keeps the trains running on track and on time.
Lead Graphic Designer
When Carol picks up her virtual paintbrush we stand back and let her do her thing. An Emmy Award-winning art director and animator, Carol designs gorgeous sets and backgrounds, animates logos, and creates hundreds of 3D animations for Writebrain. In her free time, she illustrates children’s books.
Laurel Cobble Fountain
Business Operations Manager
Laurel manages all things business operations – accounting, marketing, HR, and more. She’s a master of the critical details and an all-around whirlwind of energy. She’s been working in production and post-production for 20 years.
